Dear Lord Burns,

MINK HUNTING

We are a small Hunt, about 40 members with seven couple of hounds. These last are of foxhound and otterhound breeds. Our members and followers come from all sectors of society in rural and urban Hampshire. We are an effective weapon in the control of the voracious, vicious and destructive mink population. We often kill where trapping and shooting have failed.

An important and cherished aspect of our hunting life is the sense of community and comradeship which we create and foster. Our people enjoy social and formal events, improve their knowledge and appreciation of the countryside and its rivers and streams. Through the courtesy of farmers, riparian owners, fishing clubs and water keepers our Hunt is allowed to hunt in places which are not generally accessible. Our members respect such privilege and are careful to preserve it.

In sum, mink hunting is a necessary task, a great pleasure and benefit to those who follow the sport.

Yours sincerely,

J. B. D. Morgan, Hon Secretary/Treasurer.
