Dear Sir,
As a Town Council we feel that we must bring to your attention the effect of banning hunting would have on the local community.
A large number of visitors come to follow the hunt and stay in the immediate area i.e. hotels, cottages etc., these people spend money in our shops which provide employment for residents of the parish.
The local riding establishments supply horses for some hunt members and visitors who wish to ride with them, thus needing the skills of the blacksmiths and saddlers.
During the year the hunt supporters organise entertainment locally such as Point-to-Points, Whist Drives, Dog Shows, Sheepdog Trials, to name but a few, in a rural area that has not the facilities of cinemas, theatres etc. All these events support the local economy, which in our opinion will suffer if the ban is put into operation, leading to the possible closure of businesses.
Yours faithfully,
Chairman.
cc. Mr. Simon Hart, & Mr. N. Hawksley.
